Truth or Dare

I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ.

Did you know that the word gospel means “good news”? (I was telling Chris the other day, that he might find me using the word gospel when I had some good news, just to make conversation more interesting.) I try my hardest to live for Jesus Christ. I do get passionate about Him.

I’m not ashamed to be a Christian. However, sometimes I am in places or with people who don’t share my faith. They don’t have a desire to know their creator and maybe never will. Is it my job to get in their face and preach it to them? No. Is it my job to get angry at them for the sin they are flaunting? No. Is it ok for me to have a better then you attitude?

Nope, unfortunately no.

Have I done these before? Uh, yea. should I feel shame because I did this? No. Shame is not from God.

If I tell you about the truth I know and you ignore me, its not my loss. Its your loss.

If I show you that I’m no different then you and you still cant get over the fact that you think I’m better then you, it still is not my problem. Humans must decide all by themselves which God they are going to serve. And I cannot take responsibility for other peoples choices. I will live for Christ, dying to myself daily and radiate Him thru the tips of my hair. I am responsible for me. I am in charge of me. I cannot pick up someone else’s cross and bare it for them. It just doesn’t work like that. I can’t blame the weather man that I got stuck in a storm! He told me it was coming, I didn’t listen. I get warned about things all the time, and I choose whether to pay attention or not.

Really people, there is an amazing force we cannot see with our eyes (most the time). I can tell you till I’m blue in my face that God is real. Its so easy for you to ignore it. So, human of us, so natural to pretend we just landed here on earth from some weird explosion. Its what we WANT to believe.

How many times has someone told you something that was true, and you covered your ears and said, “I don’t want to believe that!” Does it make the truth any less of truth because you din’t want to believe it? You can not prove God false. You just can’t. And I dare you too. Because the minute you start digging deep to disprove Christ, you will find God is Truth. Do you want to to know for certain, or are you content with pushing the truth down into the cesspool of your soul? I can’t make you choose which side of the battle your fighting on.

You make your own choices. But can I say that you should choose Truth. It will set you free.

A great book for all who are teetering on a totter in finding the truth or not, The Case For Christ, by Lee Strobel. A journalist who set out to disprove Christ writes what truth he found. He also writes, The Case For Faith.

In the Bible:

John 8:31-32

If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

2 Thessalonians 2:10

They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.
